Formerly known as Computers in Human Services it was launched in 1985 as a Haworth Press publication. Professor Dick Schoech,  professor of social work at the University of Texas at Arlington is its founding editor. The Journal of Technology in Human Services is a peer-reviewed, refereed journal now published by Taylor & Francis. Its scope includes the potential of information and communication technologies in mental health, developmental disability, welfare, addictions, education, and other human services.

Members of the husITa mailing list can subscribe to the online version of the Journal of Technology in Human Services for $30 per year, and the online and paper versions for $60 per year, considerably lower than the publishers normal subscription rates.
